Hi, this is Daniel from ForgivenFully.com, sharing with you the exclamation point of God’s forgiveness.
The day after Thanksgiving is called as ‘Black Friday.’ The following Monday is called ‘Cyber Monday.’ I wonder, does the day after Christmas have a name? I don’t mean the ‘Boxing Day’ holiday that is celebrated in Canada, the U.K., and other places around the world. I wonder if there is a name to describe the phenomenon that takes place on December 26th. Do you know what I’m talking about?
I couldn’t find a name for it, so I’ll just name it myself: The Great Exchange Day. Stores see a different kind of rush on December 26th, which is the most popular day to return or exchange all those well-intentioned but miss-the-mark Christmas gifts.
Yes, some Christmas gifts miss the mark. I’m sure we’ve all at one time received clothing that either doesn’t fit us or doesn’t quite suit us. So, were you a participant in the most recent Great Exchange Day?
Well I want to talk with you about another Great Exchange Day. The main message of the Bible is this: “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (II Corinthians 5:21) God's Great Exchange is this: Jesus took our sins and gave us His righteousness; He was willingly charged with our sins, and we are wondrously credited with the perfect life He lived for us. This is the most lopsided exchange in human history! Imagine walking into a store with one sock, dirty and tattered, and in exchange you receive unlimited in-store credit. God’s great exchange is so much greater! …Jesus took our sins and our punishment; He credits us with His record of perfect obedience! Sin does not at all suit Him who had no sin, but He willingly took it upon Himself to bear our punishment. Jesus became everything He was not to make you everything you were not: holy, righteous, pure — and that IS what you ARE through faith in Him.
You see, it’s not just Jesus’ death that counts for you; His perfect life counts for you as well. This is the fullness of God's forgiveness. It's not just not some clean slate where now you have to do your part to earn credit with God. No, everything you need has been credited to you. This is the fullness of forgiveness in Christ - you are righteous before God through faith in Him.
Thank you for your time, and may God bless you with what you heard here today at ForgivenFully.com.
