We spend billions of dollars on thousands of products which promise some kind of revitalization for our lives. Why is there such a draw to experience the 'new you'? We realize deep down that we are fundamentally flawed, so we are constantly reaching for something better, some answer to the defectiveness we feel. That deep-down defect, that fatal flaw called "sin" infects us with a sickening selfishness that cuts us off from life as it was meant to be, in perfect unity with God and with one another. God’s answer to our desperate need is the selfless sacrifice of His Son: "Christ died for all" – you probably know that, but the next statement may be a bit surprising – "and therefore all died." (II Corinthians 5:14) What does this mean? Simply this, that God counted Christ’s death for sin as if we ourselves had died for our sin. All our sin has been punished and paid for through Christ.
When you see what Jesus spent on you to save you from your selfishness, that’s when you start to live the truly 'new you.' "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (II Corinthians 5:17) "In Christ" means that through faith in Him and His saving sacrifice for you, you are united with Him, no longer cut off from life with God. If there’s any doubt that His life means new life for you, look to the empty tomb – Christ is risen! Here’s how it revitalizes your life: "Christ’s love compels us…that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view." (II Corinthians 5:14-16) "In Christ," you no longer look at what you can get out of others for yourself, but you look at what you can give to others because of what Jesus gave to them and to you, His own life on the cross. FROM OLD TO NEW – come learn of God’s grace to revitalize your life.
