Hi, this is Daniel from ForgivenFully.com, sharing with you the exclamation point of God’s forgiveness.
Finished. What does that word mean? Complete. No loose ends. The matter is settled. The issue is resolved. Finished often comes with a sigh of relief. You’ve completed those semester exams. There’s nothing left undone on the to-do list. The drama is over. And if someone else finishes something for you, it often comes with a sigh of gratitude. ‘Oh, thank you!,’ you say to a friend who swoops in to pay in bill that you could not pay. Your debt has been settled.
Finished. That’s what Jesus said when He gave up His life on the cross: “It is finished!” (John 19:30) What is finished?
The payment for your sins is finished!
Many people confess that Jesus died for their sins but they aren’t living in the freedom of what that means. “It is finished!” does not mean, ‘Jesus did His part, and now you do your part.’ Where does that end? Where’s the peace? Where’s the certainty?
Look, what Jesus did on the cross for you and me was not a down payment for our sins. It was a DONE payment. A paid-in-full, finished payment. “For Christ died for sins, once for all, the Righteous One for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”
(I Peter 3:18) With a sigh of relief and gratitude, I pray that you believe this good news and live in the freedom of this full forgiveness.
