Hi, this is Daniel from ForgivenFully.com, sharing with you the exclamation point of God’s forgiveness.
New Year’s resolutions. What’s your view of them? Positive? Negative? You probably have a positive view if you’ve made resolutions in the past and have been more or less successful in following through on them. And of course you probably have a negative view if you’ve struggled to keep your commitments. Did you know that about 45% of Americans usually make New Year’s resolutions, and another 17% occasionally do so. What fascinates me is that 38% of Americans absolutely NEVER make New Year’s resolutions. Perhaps that’s because on average only 75% of resolutions make it through the first week, and only 8% of resolutions stand the test of time and make it a whole year.
Let’s broaden this concept a little bit so that even us ‘non-resolutioners’ can relate.
What is the essence of a resolution? Well, I’ve already used the word commitment; it’s a promise. Even if you didn’t make a resolution heading into last year, look back on a whole year’s worth of promises you have made. Consider the smallest to the most significant. Recall promises to do or not to do, promises not to forget or to remember, promises to refrain or to follow through. Consider promises you’ve made to yourself, to family, to God. What do the statistics show? I for one am thankful that my statistics from this past year are not readily available through an internet search. But God knows; He knows my sin.
In spite of this, He comes to us with an incredible promise, one that I pray shapes your new year and your everyday life with confidence in Him. Listen to this: “My God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) God has promised to meet all your needs, and He set an incredible standard by which He will do so, a standard so much greater than our earthly view. According to His riches in Christ Jesus, He will meet all your needs. Think of that! God’s promise says, ‘According to my unchanged, unchanging, ever-faithful will to meet your greatest need by giving my Son into death for the forgiveness of all your sins – according to that standard will I treat you, according to that will I meet your needs for life.’ …Read the Bible, take heart in God’s statistic of perfect faithfulness, and know that in Jesus you are forgiven fully.
Thank you for your time, and may God bless you with what you heard here today at ForgivenFully.com.
