Hi, this is Daniel from ForgivenFully.com, sharing with you the exclamation point of God’s forgiveness.
I’ll admit it: God is unreasonable. I don’t mean the fact that He demands perfection of us even though He knows we can’t live sinlessly. No, that’s His reasonable right as the Creator of us all, just as parents have the right to set the rules of the house and teachers in the classroom.
Now you might say that’s an unfair comparison, because parents and teachers don’t ask of us what we are incapable of. Maybe not, but let’s be honest, we still complain and find fault with their rules. That’s our nature, and that is what God exposes when He says, “Be holy,” be set apart from sin, “because I, the LORD your God, am holy” (Leviticus 19:2)
Now here’s where God gets unreasonable. “Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18) Let us reason together, says the LORD? There’s nothing at all reasonable about that, that my status should be changed from red-handed guilty to white-as-snow innocent! But that’s exactly what God did for us by sending His Son to die with our guilt, to rise in glory, and to credit us with His innocence. Let’s admit it: God is so wonderfully unreasonable in forgiving us all of our sins! Thank God for this grace that goes beyond all standards of human reason!
