Hi, this is Daniel from ForgivenFully.com, sharing with you the exclamation point of God’s forgiveness.
The year was 1996. I boarded a Greyhound bus in Appleton, WI for a 40-hour trip to Helena, Montana where I would be trained as a certified weather observer. I was a young pup of 21, and this was my first time moving any great distance from home. Early into that journey, I started to realize that I really didn’t know that much, so I fell back on what I did know – I opened the Bible and read God’s Word.
At that time Psalm 16 really grabbed me and became the theme of my life. It begins this way: "In You, O God, I take refuge." (Psalm 16:1) And that verse would become even more meaningful to me on that journey after some dude with a big long knife strapped to his side boarded the bus and shortly after was hauled off for assault!
When I finally arrived in Helena, I learned that my luggage had been left behind somewhere in North Dakota. I didn’t have anything and I didn’t know anybody. It was at that time that v2 of Psalm 16 put everything I was feeling into perspective for me. It says this: "I said to the LORD," 'You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.' " (Psalm 16:2)
Yes, apart from the LORD I have no good thing, but what I learned is that in Him, I have every good thing that I need. I know that my sins are forgiven. I know that I am deeply loved. I know that I will never be forsaken. I know that heaven is my home. So even when I’m missing all the familiarities and the comforts of my life, even when I suffer loss or face troubles, I know that in Him I have every good thing. ...And I want you to know that too! Take refuge in God, and find that in Him you have every good thing.
